Chris and I absolutely love embarking on one heck of a winter adventure by riding the Polar Express train ride in Michigan!

Located in Owasso, Michigan, the iconic North Pole Express is powered by the world-famous Pere Marquette 1225, a 1941 Berkshire type steam locomotive. It’s a truly impressive sight!

The North Pole Express is sometimes called the Ashley Michigan Christmas train as the Pere Marquette chugs along the tracks

    • Pro Tip: Buy your tickets early (keep a watch for ticket sales opening up very early October).

You will depart from the Steam Railroading Institute in Owosso for an incredible four and a half hour, round trip excursion to the Village of Ashley’s Country Christmas.

I love that you can choose from a variety of classes of service. Chris and I choose the adults only parlor and absolutely loved the hot chocolate, drinks and posh environment.

There’s vintage coaches to historic cabooses, each with a different accommodation but they all have a cheerful Christmas ambiance.

Upon arriving at the Village of Ashley’s Country Christmas, we disembarked and enjoyed a two-hour nostalgic Christmas party. We also enjoyed the numerous activities throughout the village.

Be sure to have your photo taken in front of the Pere Marquette 1225 and stand in line to meet Santa Claus!
