Starbucks is celebrating the first day of fall with an autumn surprise:a rare deal for its loyal coffee drinkers.
New and existing Starbucks Rewards members who buy a grande or larger handcrafted beverage such as a Frappucino or a Pumpkin Spice Latte using the mobile order feature on the app Wednesday will earn a free drink coupon.
If you purchase a drink Wednesday, the coupon will automatically be loaded to your account Saturday. It can be redeemed during the weekend at participating Starbucks locations.
The coupon has a maximum value of $10. It’s similar to a promotion Starbucks held on Cyber Monday in 2020.

Handcrafted drinks include espresso-based drinks, Frappuccino blended beverages, seasonal drinks like the Apple Crisp Macchiato, iced teas, cold coffees and Nitro drinks.
Starbucks says it’s a one-time offer.
According to the offer’s fine print, you won’t earn a freebie on purchases of hot brewed coffee or tea, Starbucks Reserve beverages or ready-to-drink beverages.
Starbucks told USA TODAY that the offer will show up in loyalty members’ accounts on its app at 6 a.m. local time Wednesday.
New members can still take advantage of the deal but if they join Wednesday, they might not see the offer in the app. They will still get the coupon to redeem Sept. 25 or 26.
Fall got off to an early start at Starbucks and competitor Dunkin’ with the return of pumpkin spice. Grocery store aisles are already stuffed with seasonal spinoffs including pumpkin beer, pastries and candy.
The Seattle-based coffee giant brought back its fall menu Aug. 24 with the Pumpkin Spice Latte and Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew. It also added the Apple Crisp Macchiato, an espresso beverage available hot or iced.
