Michigan beats Hawaii 2-1, advances to Little League championship

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Moments after Hawaii defeated Taylor North Little League in Wednesday’s Little League World Series Hank Aaron bracket semifinal, manager Rick Thorning appeared amped up at the postgame press conference.

Thorning stressed that his team had been just a few hits away from beating Hawaii, widely considered one of the best offenses at Williamsport. It seemed odd, but Thorning appeared to know something.

Saturday, Thorning and the rest of Taylor North got the rematch they wanted with a trip to the championship game on the line.

Cameron Thorning hit a two-run home run in the opening inning, just a few days removed from having his shot to center field robbed. He pitched, too, and limited Hawaii to one run in a 2-1 Taylor North Little League victory.
